Stretch & Strengthen: Lower Cross Syndrome Edition

Do you ever experience lower back pain or stiffness? Do you find that your every day mobility has decreased or that your standing posture looks a little off? This could be due to a condition called Lower Cross Syndrome (LCS).

LCS is a postural imbalance that affects the muscles in your hips and lower back that is caused by sitting for long periods of time, lack of exercise, and/or poor posture. This imbalance can put extra strain on your lower back muscles, leading to pain and discomfort. Imbalances tend to appear in the form of tight muscles of the low back, quads and hip flexors, in addition to weak glutes and weak abdominal muscles.

By correcting the imbalance (aka strengthening certain muscle groups and stretching others, in addition to other treatment modalities), it’s possible to correct posture, decrease pain, and increase range of motion! Work with your local chiropractor or contact us if you think this may be the source of your low back pain so you can start feeling better today!
