The “I Don’t Know” Muscle

The upper traps are a notoriously infamous area of concern for many people. Have you ever heard someone say, "I carry my stress in my shoulders and neck?" Most of the time they're referring to the traps.

The trap muscle is what allows us to shrug our shoulders. It's the "I don't know" muscle! Trigger points here can elicit referred pain along the neck and to parts of the head that can even produce headaches. Bad posture and poor ergonomics also contribute to stress here. For example, if your keyboard or your mouse is too high, do you find that it forces the traps to engage? You might be holding your tension there and if you do it for hours without taking a break, well, you can see where we're headed with this.

Good news is that chiropractors can treat this! So call for an evaluation today!
