Easy Tips to Build Healthy Habits

When life is on the go, we sometimes tend to forget to take care of ourselves. Here are a few easy and quick care tips:

  1. Stretch every morning. Do you ever notice your dog or cat stretch first thing in the morning? They have an innate-ness, so to speak, that tells them that stretching is good! It warms up your muscles, spine and joints to help get you ready for the day. So do as your pet does and stretch first thing!

  2. Get at least 8 hours of sleep. Did you know that a good night’s sleep can help with productivity the next day? Catch those Z’s and breeze through your to-do list!

  3. Don’t skip meals. When we get busy, we can forget to eat lunch or even breakfast. But our bodies need fuel and our little brains need glucose (a type of sugar) for functions such as thinking, memory, and learning. When you skip a meal, your body starts to run low on its immediate glucose supply. Low blood sugar can deplete your energy, make you feel weak, and it can also make it difficult to concentrate. Not only that, but it can affect the foods you do eat next. People tend to make poorer choices after they’ve skipped a meal, such as going for heavy carbs, sweets and overeating, sending your blood sugar into overdrive before crashing back down (it’s a vicious cycle)!
